Dear Friends,
Here we are ten years after the millennium… Did you ever think we’d actually be here 10 years later? Many people thought We’d never live to see this new millennium, but look what’s been happening! So many opportunities! So many accomplishments! And, so many opportunities to share Christ with other, and so many people coming to faith in Christ - Wow! Praise the Lord! And you, and we have been a part of such wonderful ministry... We truly live in very exciting times! But for how long? Possibly our Lord Jesus Christ could return today..., this week..., this month…, or sometime this year… And that begs a very important question for us all, “Have we done all we can to share the love of Jesus and the message of salvation with those around us and throughout the world?”
Please understand, I am not being critical of what you are or are not doing. I look at myself and realize I could be doing more, as could you (probably)... And with your help, encouragement, and partnership we could also together be doing more... (If you’re already partnering with us - thank you! - maybe together we could still do more? And if you’ve not partnered with us, we encourage you to join with us in prayer and financial support — so that more people can be influenced for Christ…) Thank you for giving this your serious consideration!
So what have we been doing recently; what could you be praying for; what more could we be doing?
This year we continue to hold our Health Fairs one weekend every month, in different locations each month. We call these Weekender Teams, and encourage people from the USA and Canada to join with us; and if they would like come a few days early or stay a few days afterward, so that we can show them around Loreto, give them a vision for what is here, etc., and to do more ministry with them also… David & Leilani Ward came for our Weekender Team in March, but actually made it a 3 week missions trip — we had a wonderful time! Fred & Rosella Sawatzky came with 4 friends last month, and stayed over a few days to do more missions activities — again we had a great time! (And all of these people were such an encouragement to us, because we had not had anyone come to join our Teams from the US or Canada since last October — the bad economy has hit us all…)
However we are very glad to have Yxchel, Gloria, Male and Gabriel partnering with us in all of our Health Fairs. They come from La Paz each month, and are really committed to the ministry! So when you pray for us, please remember to pray for them also…
You will remember the Bible School was started at our home/ministry center in January... Well they meet here every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We have had a couple of students drop out, but our teachers (some of the local Pastors), are encouraged with the growth of those who are attending. And a couple of weeks ago we had a celebration at the completion of their First Semester, and we were able to give them all (students and teachers), special leather-bound Study Bibles — provided by one of our supporters in California. What a blessing!
Also in January we started the Loreto Christian Fellowship, for English speakers in Loreto. We meet at our home/ministry center on Tuesday evenings for a “Dinner-and-a-Study”, and we have had as many as 9 people come. But many have returned to Canada and the USA, so we may only have 1-3 here at this time… But it is a start; and we are glad to be meeting the needs of these people; and to be encouraging them in their walk with the Lord. Another great ministry opportunity: In January a man asked if we’d consider managing a Christian Book Store in Loreto. We have known that this has been a need here, but always felt that it would be too difficult to start, etc., etc. But here we are, this man is willing to provide us |
