We at Gabriel House are looking forward to 2010 with great anticipation. The reason we can say that is because God has seen us through 2009. He provided for the $240,000.00 needed annually to run Gabriel House and at the 11th hour we went out of 2009 in the black.
Did we struggle? Yes, we did! Our ladies went without pay for weeks and more than once. Did we worry. Yes, we did! We are human; we repented of our worry and went on. Did we pray? We have the callouses on our knees to prove it and God showed up. He does His best work during our times of trial and adversity.
The US is facing economic hard times, but the body of Christ is still strong and alive and caring for each other as evidenced through the strong support of all of you who have allowed God to touch your hearts to help us. God has His own economy and it is not based on the world's economy.
We want to say thank you to all who made our Christmas a joyous and holy celebration of Christ’s birth. Because of your generosity, we were able to share with our workers and our neighbors, food, toys, blankets, and the love of Jesus.
This is another example of God's grace. In April there was only a plot of bare earth where the new dorms now stand. Then a team showed up and bought and built the footings and poured the cement for the foundation.
A month went by and another team came all the way from Virginia and paid for the materials and poured the floors.
Then another team showed up and paid for the materials and built the walls and roof.
Then a man came and brought us the electrical box and donated drywall and lumber.
Then another team came and bought insulation, drywall, ready-mix and taping. On and on through the spring, summer, fall and winter, God has faithfully sent His servants to build the walls. We felt like Nehemiah and not one penny of money designated for the care of the children went into the building project.
We are now just days away from opening the boys wing. It is through the effort of our faithful workers and teams God sent from the US that this is even possible. We had neither the wherewithal, nor the money to do this. God sent teams with money to buy the materials and do the work and extra money to pay the wages of our men here.
The boys are so happy to, at last, have their own space. They can’t wait to move in and claim their bunks. |
